Traffic GO & Blackbutt for a Modern Home

This project involved laying new flooring into a very modern home as part of an extensive renovation. The new extension covered about 100sqm of living and kitchen area, with Bona Traffic GO being used throughout.

Solid Blackbutt was chosen as the flooring for its beautiful darker texture and richer grain, and being a dark species carrying more tannin, Bona Prime Intense was used first as the sealer to minimise tannin bleed and bring out the more intense colour.

Bona's Traffic GO was then used for the top coats to offer a durable finish in a high traffic environment. Traffic GO is Bona’s new 1k finish which incorporates 2k technology, meaning that the built-in hardener only activates when the finish is applied. This achieves the durability of a 2k finish whilst still retaining the simplicity of a 1k. No pre-mixing is required and there is no wastage or pot life issues. Brad from BJ’s Floors commented that removing the issue of pot life and left over unused finish whilst still producing a 2k result is an obvious bonus.

Bona Traffic GO also has very low VOC levels and is PFAS Free, meaning that the home can be reoccupied soon after application with no unpleasant smell or associated health risks. When undertaking extensive renovations this is also of benefit to allow quick access for other trades without delaying the project.

Eliminating health risks by using Bona finishes is important to both contractors and home owners. Many home-owners are not aware of the health risks associated with solvent finishes.
