Kings Hall Parliament House
King's Hall forms a gracious space in the heart of Old Parliament House in Canberra, now the Museum of Australian Democracy, and boasts a tall coffered ceiling, clerestory windows, white plaster walls with intricate mouldings, colonnades & decorative skylights. The original timber floor of basket weave Jarrah parquetry with inlaid Mountain Ash edge detailing gives a rich contrast to the lightness of the room.
The hall is a truly majestic setting and was the hub of the original Parliament building. It came to symbolise the openness of parliamentary democracy and representative government in Australia.
To protect the national heritage of this icon Bona Finishes were chosen to coat and protect the classic parquet floors for generations to come. In fact the Museum has sanded and coated a further 400sqm of flooring in the rooms adjoining the Kings Hall because they have been so impressed with the performance of the Bona finishes.
