Bona’s FlexiSand 1.9 demonstrates its flexibility of use and multiple attachments to Australia's peak timber flooring industry body

Bona recently presented a demonstration of the FlexiSand 1.9 Rotary Sander to the Australasian Timber Flooring Association (ATFA) national membership base as part of the ATFA Webinar series. The demonstration showed the flexibility and multiple uses of the FlexiSand 1.9 and its attachments and answered queries from the members about its use.

The demonstration covered uses from the standard 405mm disc, to the PowerDrive gear driven plate with click on ‘Connect’ system for interchanging sanding discs and brushes, as well as the new Ergo Edge System. Using the concrete grinding attachment FlexiSand can also be used for concrete grinding.

The demonstration was done online to Australia wide contractors, with live comments posted by members being addressed during the demonstration. A highlight was to see the Ergo Edge, which is an innovative attachment consisting of 4 flexible 178mm discs which attach to the PowerDrive, allowing sanding to within a couple of cm of the edge, often eliminating the need for use of an edging machine completely. The Ergo Edge discs attach via the click on ‘Connect' system which makes light work of changing between any sanding discs and also wire brushes to easily create textured effects.

The demonstration showed the most appropriate situations for use in different applications and how to maximise the flexibility of the machine, with options such as the optional add on 7kg weights able to be used for more aggressive abrasion, and the PowerDrive 4 x 150mm gear driven discs being able to offer true direction free sanding. Expected outcomes were shown to give contractors a true indication of the benefits of adding the FlexiSand to their lineup, with the FlexiSand also being shown in conjunction with Bona’s DCS70 (Dust Containment System). Many were surprised at how adaptable and efficient the FlexiSand really was.
