Bona leads the world in non-toxic water-based floor coatings so it comes as no surprise that we take sustainability very seriously.

The Bona Sustainability Report highlights the ways that Bona seeks to lighten its footprint and implement the ethos of sustainability throughout its products and practices. A key highlight is that Bona waste output has been reduced by over 11% compared to 2020 and energy consumption at Bona's production facilities has also been reduced.

Bona's 2022 Sustainability Report also introduced subdivisions for its ongoing approach to sustainability. These are set into the three key areas of Home, Health and Humanity.

Home focuses on being sustainable for the planet and reducing Bona's environmental impact, with a goal of being completely carbon neutral by 2040.

Health focuses on being a sustainable business. Bona seeks to achieve business growth through new products which are built around health and innovation as a key pillar. Bona’s dust containment system (DCS) is a prime example of this.

Humanity focuses on being sustainable for people. By creating fair and equal opportunities for its employees and supply chain Bona seeks to make a difference to communities both locally and globally.

“With our new vision, we take another step on our journey by reinforcing Bona’s business model of encouraging floor renovation and maintenance over replacement, which saves energy consumption and reduces the climate footprint” added Magnus Andersson, who was appointed CEO of Bona in 2022.

Other sustainability highlights noted in the report include the company’s partnership with WeForest to aid in the restoration of forests in Brazil, Bona’s 2022 EPA Safer Choice Partner of the Year Award and its drive to increase post-consumer recycled plastic in its packaging.
